    The Ashland team is committed to developing, implementing and ensuring the practical application of quality programming by delivering services that fulfill the needs of both our Funders and participants.

    Ashland Training Centre is celebrating ten years of operation in 2006. Yet key members of our team have worked together for over thirteen years. Our team is comprised of a supportive group of qualified trainers, facilitators, counsellors, project managers, placement officers, coordinators and administrative staff with a reputation for delivering quality work.

    In the past thirteen years, our team has developed workshops, programs and projects to meet the needs of the unemployed and have had the opportunity to test them and improve on them. Our experience spans the entire Kootenays – we have worked with managers, partners and the community to deliver programming in Cranbrook, Grand Forks, Trail and Nakusp.

    Our Key Team Members Include:

    Harry 

    Executive Director of ATC
    has broad experience in program development and administration. These programs extend from entrepreneurial to pre-employment to on-the-job training for adults, youth, disabled, disadvantaged and unemployed people. He has held various executive positions with community groups, worked in the field of economic development and owned a franchise hardware business.
    Harry has lived and worked in the East and West Kootenays for the past 33 years and has served on various government committees dealing with economic and community development issues of the region. His educational background includes a Diploma in Business Administration (Marketing major), Local Economic Development Training, and Retail Management courses along with a wide variety of seminars/workshops.

    Paul 

    Team Leader/Counsellor
    has over 30 years experience working in both the public and private sectors. He has extensive experience in negotiations, self-employment/entrepreneurship, program development, contract and program management, and staff management. He liaises will all levels of government ministries and has served on various provincial, regional and local committees/organizations. Paul's educational background is diverse and Ashland is proud to have him as part of our team.

    Stephanie 

    Facilitator/ Trainer
    has over17 year’s office experience providing outstanding customer service, clerical and management support.  Stephanie’s effectiveness as front-end personnel is a result of her professional manner and diplomacy in communicating with clients and staff, a strong work ethic and teamwork skills.

    Her education started with Hotel and Special Events Management where she utilized her knowledge and skill for events such as the Famous Cloverdale Rodeo, Abbotsford Air Show, City of Surrey Canada Day Event, Surrey Woodworking Show and the Vancouver Fringe Festival to name a few. Her organizational skills led her to a position with the Abbotsford Agrifair where she was the Office and Concessions Manager.

    After many years in the Lower Mainland her upbringing in small town Ontario had her searching for a less hectic lifestyle and she landed in Castlegar.

    Stephanie has recently been promoted to Administrator/Facilitator.  She is currently instructing our computer programs, facilitating off-site and in house courses and is consistently upgrading her own knowledge of computers and software programs.

    Stephanie has worked hard to be part of our team to develop, implement and apply quality programs to both our Funders and participants.  These programs extend from pre-employment to on-the-job training for adults, youth, disabled, disadvantaged and unemployed people.  

    Joanna 

    Counsellor/Facilitator
    has over 9 years experience counselling individuals in determining client needs, developing back-to-work action plans, career planning, training supports, job search techniques, resume preparation and interview skills.

    Joanna has shown her diversity in developing and delivering a variety of workshops as well as becoming our resident computer techie.

    She is capable of working one-on-one or in group settings and effectively liaisons with community, provincial and federal agencies. Joanna has a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology major) and a BC Provincial Instructors Diploma.

    Sue

    Counsellor/ Facilitator
    has over 15 years experience counselling individuals in determining client needs, developing back-to-work action plans, career planning, training supports, job search techniques, resume preparation, interview skills and developing/delivering a variety of workshops.  She is capable of working one-on-one or in group settings and effectively liaisons with community, provincial and federal agencies.  Susan has 2 year Undergraduate studies and her BC Provincial Instructors Diploma. In addition she has acquired training and certification in Counselling Fundamentals & Assessment Component (HRDC), Individual Employment Counselling, Making Career Sense of Labour Market Information, and Active Engagement / Cross Roads.

    Faith 

    Counsellor/Facilitator
    has extensive experience in providing services for individuals with disabilities entering or re-entering the workforce. This includes work assessments, vocational counselling/planning, job placement, job development, interview techniques, resume preparation, job coaching, training-on-the-job, supported employment and facilitating training programs.
    Faith has developed, marketed, implemented and monitored a number of small businesses that provide work opportunities for people with barriers to employment. She demonstrates valuable leadership skills through involvement with various community organizations, businesses and Selkirk College. Faith has a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Service Worker Certificate.

    Kathy 

    Finance
    has experience working with the public in retail, office and large corporate settings. Kathy has proven leadership skills and facilitation experience with a global corporation. She liaises with JP clients throughout the West Kootenay Boundary region, provides soft-skill training to employable adults in a group setting, TFJ job placement services, and all related reporting/monitoring duties to the Ministry of Human Resources. Her educational background includes management training, computer and accounting training, plus a variety of leadership workshops/seminars.

    Lisa-Marie

    Tami 

    Community Assistance Program/Counsellor/Facilitator
    has 17 years counselling experience including crisis intervention, client assessments, life/work counselling, developing and implementing programs, career planning, vocational rehabilitation and employment training for adults and youth with a wide variety of backgrounds. Her experience and ability allows her to work effectively both with individuals as well as group settings. Her knowledge of and liaisons with provincial, federal and community agencies is an asset when dealing with a number of diverse programs.
    At ATC, the scope of Tami's skills spans from instructing workshops, employment counselling to coordinating training supports and reporting. Along with over two years of university towards a Bachelor of Social Work, Tami is certified as a BC Logging Health & Safety Agency Trainer the Trainer, Employment and Career Counselling - Level 1 Certificate, Starting Points Instructor and FoodSafe Level I & II..
