Our Facility
Our 4200 sq. ft. facility is located in central Castlegar, at 1414 Columbia Avenue. It is easily accessible and convenient for clients using public transportation. Our space includes the following features:
a front self serve area with a 6 - 8 person waiting area, a job board that lists current local, regional and provincial employment opportunities, and 4 computers available to the public for self-directed Internet job search activities (a photocopier is also available for work search related activities);
a Job Search Centre (referral required) with 4 computers, printer and a library, for assisted resume/cover letter production, online job search, and interview preparation
a reception area with equipment normally related to that function as well as a facsimile for work search related activities;
two large training rooms each accommodating up to 25 people with ample tables, chairs, audiovisual equipment and training aids per room;
a small training/meeting room accommodating up to 15 people with ample tables, chairs, audiovisual equipment and training aids;
nine private offices with desks, interview tables and chairs, Microsoft Office networked Pentium class computers and counselling aids;
an E-Centre for self-directed computer training, that includes a 6 station work area equipped with Pentium class computers and complete with scanner, fax and printer access;
a mini computer training room with 3 computers - useful for small group sessions;
a resource area with 3 computers for assessment and research purposes, a printer and library stocked with resources;
three washrooms (two for clients and one for staff);
a staff room; and,
three storage rooms for equipment, supplies and archived files.
Clients with restricted mobility can access the facility by buzzing a staff member and they will assist the client using a Stair Trac wheelchair mobile lift. Should the client not find this method of accessibility suitable they can meet with program staff in a ground level office.
