Resource Centre Activities

Access to our resource library, job board and computer kiosks with Internet access for self-directed job search activities.

Job Search Centre *

The Job Search Centre will provide individuals with the following job search resources:

Resume Writing: Participants develop a resume or update a current resume.

Cover Letters: Participants develop their own job specific cover letter.

On-Line Job Search: Use the Internet to prepare for work search, accessing the electronic employment database services, emailing and posting resumes on the Internet.

Interview Skills: Accessing the On-Line Interview Centre to discover, rehearse and review the necessary interview skills required to help secure a job. One-on-one and mock/video interviews can be booked with a Counsellor

* Clients need to have computer skills to access these services.

* A Counsellor will be available to assist individuals as needed.

Employer Liaison/ Job Coach*

Employers can receive assistance in finding qualified employees. Job Seekers will be assisted in acquiring suitable employment and/ or appropriate training.

The Job Coach will assist potential employees during on-the-job training. * Referral required

Response to Economic Downturn (RED Initiative)

Clients may be eligible for various supports and training opportunities (must attend an Orientation Session). Free Employability Workshops available to assist clients to reach their employment goals.

Initial Interview

An interview with an Employment Counsellor that assists clients in their transition to work through the development of an action plan. The action plan consists of four employability dimensions (career decision-making, skills enhancement, and job search and employment maintenance) which focuses on obtaining employment and accessing employment programs or services in the community.

Employment Counselling

A collaborative goal setting and counselling service available to clients. This service involves further exploration and individual assistance in the areas of career decision making, skills enhancement, and job search and employment maintenance.

In-Depth Counselling *

An individualized exploration of issues and barriers identified in the Initial Interview. The focus is on personal management and employment maintenance skills. * Referral required

Kootenay Wage Subsidy *

The Kootenay Wage Subsidy Program is for unemployed individuals with an attachment to Employment Insurance (EI). This program will provide a financial benefit to employers while training new employees/ apprentices. * EI Eligible Clients Only

Training & Negotiated Financial Support *

A group information session providing details on process and eligibility criteria to apply for Negotiated Financial Support. Eligible applicants are required to develop a "back-to-work" action plan & training package, with assistance from an Employment Counsellor that details their employment barriers, career research and labour market information related to their career goal.

Economic Recovery Training Program (ERTP)*

Eligible applicants are required to develop a "back-to-work" action plan & training package, with assistance from an Employment Counsellor that details their employment barriers, career research and labour market information related to their career goal. * Non EI Attached Clients Only

Services for People with Disabilities *

Step-by-step career planning, job search and employment maintenance assistance is available to individuals with disabilities. This assistance may include skills assessment, goal setting, and development of job search skills, interviewing and applications. * Referral required
